Paint the Park 2011
ALL ARE WELCOME The Truro Art Society is excited to sponsor our third annual Paint the Park event. This event is running in conjunction with Canada's Parks Day, Saturday July 16, 2011. We invite all Nova Scotia artists to come join us in beautiful Victoria Park for a full day of painting in this picturesque setting with bridges, streams, forest, flowers, and fabulous waterfalls. On Friday evening, July 15th, at 6:30 pm there will be a meet and greet, opening reception at the McCarthy Hall Gallery, NSCC , 36 Arthur St., Truro, Nova Scotia. You can check in at this time or on Saturday morning July 16th at 8:30 am at Victoria Park when all artists will receive a bag with our stylized Paint the Park logo containing water, a map, and instructions. Throughout Saturday, as you create, runners will provide you with food and water. Upon completion, they will take your finished pieces back to our Gallery area in the park. Each artist will have a bidding sheet and will set a take-away or reserved bid price for each piece completed. The public may view the pieces and place their bids until 4:30 pm when the silent auction will be finalized. Each artist is permitted to display 2 previously matted or framed original works to be delivered to the gallery in the park on Saturday morning. Make sure your name, address, name/title of work, and price are on the back of each submission. You will retain 80% of the selling price of both wet and dry artwork. The registration fee is $20. Please make your cheque payable to the Truro Art Society. Your registration form and fee must be received by June 24, 2011. Please include a short biography with your registration to be displayed at the Gallery. You may direct any questions to Janice Stewart at (902) 893-5340 or Janice.Stewart@nscc.ca ___________________________________________________________________________________________ Town of Truro Art Aquisition 2011 Congratulations to Richard Wenzel on the selection of his painting, "View Toward Onslow" for purchase by the town of Truro on their 5th Annual Art Acquisition. "I tried to capture the exhilaration of that fall day, when the birds were congregating, and the colours were of autumn. I hope I succeeded. Painting it was a very joyful experience," says Wenzel. __________________________________________________________________________________________ TRY TRURO check out: http://www.truro.ca/events-and-programs.html .
